Materials Generated tools help guide students learning by making representations of the information they've learned, online or on paper. Teachers can use Microsoft Publisher to make a brochure about the topic they are working on.

Data Collection & Analysis tools help track student progress throughout the semester.  Teachers can create a survey on SurveyMonkey.com to gain feedback from their students. On SurveyMonkey.com students would be able to rate their understanding of a lesson, which helps a teacher with future lesson planning.

Graphic Tools use images to illustrate one's understanding of a topic. For example, students can use Paint, on a PC, to draw the rain cycle. This graphic tool is great because it offers different artistic utensils and other instruments that may not be readily available at a school.

Planning and Organizing tools help students organize their ideas. A great tool to use is an online concept map. (Concept maps can be created on or offline.) This tool allows students to lay-out their ideas about a topic, using their own words. It is truly a representation of their thoughts.

Research & Reference tools are electronic versions of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and/or atlases. Teachers benefit from using this tool because of the high-quality display of information these websites provide. For example, if you are looking up the word, "dog" Dictionary.com provides an audio pronunciation, antonyms and synonyms.

Content Area tools support learning in various content areas. For example, teachers can recommend websites that promote good reading behaviors like Readingeggs.com.
